Everyday Teeth Whitening Methods
Teeth whitening can be done in two ways, at home or at clinic. While home type methods can be done with readily available materials, clinical whitening is done by medical professionals with special chemicals. While home type whitening methods pose no life-threatening health risks, these methods may cause certain tooth and gum tissue complications. For example, it is wrong to use an oxidizing and acidic mixture such as lemon juice and bicarbonate in teeth whitening. It may whiten the teeth but does so by eroding and damaging tooth enamel. For this reason, it may not be wise to try everyday teeth whitening methods, as this may cause permanent damage to your teeth.
In contrast, whitening methods used by dental specialists would not damage teeth in any way, it would not make sense for dental and health professionals responsible for the patients’ health to perform anything that would cause harm. For this reason, patients should refrain from home-made whitening practices and should prioritize clinical whitening instead.
